How To Move from Intention Into Practice

Practice is the actual application or use of an idea, belief, or method. It is the power behind the intention. Many of us set new years resolutions and goals last month… maybe your intention or goal was to practice more self-care, learn a new skill, improve your diet, or make new friends!

Regardless of the goal or intention, we must practice this new way of being for it to become a natural part of who we are.

How do we move from intention into practice?

Set small and achievable challenges:

Setting yourself up for success is critical. If your goal is to learn more about the healing properties of herbs, set a challenge for yourself where you spend 10 minutes a day researching and experimenting with one herb. Or maybe you’d like to start a meditation practice? Set yourself a challenge to meditate 3-times a week. Tip: In the beginning, remember to make your challenges achievable and easy to fit your lifestyle.

Accountability:

Self-accountability doesn’t happen overnight, especially when it comes to new goals and busy lifestyles. Find a group of like-minded individuals who are on the same journey as you; working together with others to reach the same goals helps to keep us motivated!

Keep practicing:

Learning can give us new perspectives and tools to help us achieve our goals. But true wisdom and transformation happens with regular practice. For example, if you begin a meditation practice and have trouble quieting the mind, use the breath, calm you body, and don't give up! Keep practicing and in time, you'll experience the benefit. Have patience and be kind to yourself as you develop new healthy skills.
